Chef Gordon Hoselton started in the hospitality business at 7 years old in his love of cooking, under his grandfather Chef Charles J. Hoselton in his fathers restaurants , The Golden Miller Restaurants Ltd. , dad’s farm and uncle’s cafeterias, bakery and vending machines ,The Dutch Oven Food Services Ltd. still run by his cousin Lauren. This apprenticeship garnered classifications of a journey man cook, inter-provincial red seal cook’s papers , chef de cuisine and master of culinary arts as well as food service administration. Director of nutrition in two hospitals, directing large food services such as the Goose Bay , Labrador- USA, British and NATO Military air forces base personnel at up to 10,000 of meals daily as well as criss-crossing the continent as corporate chef for Holiday Retirement Corp. of America, five years in the Arctic at isolated posts gave sea lift experience . The original family farming gave experience of food from field to table history . Since 1992 opening Restaurant La Marmite, Cuisine Aflot – a floating kitchen and in 2008 at Lake McGregor Mountain Lodge B&B in Val des Monts,Quebec to falling down that mountain May 2013 and breaking his hips after fishing his lake on top, falling and tumbling 100 feet on his return to the lodge, which did slow him down for 3 years and produced his diversion to an Artists Retreat at the mountain location with monthly rentals now. Allowing cottages and RV’s at the Riviere Rouge , Quebec and Hawkesbury, Ontario apartments all with monthly rentals now allowing artists of all genre the opportunity to find freedom of expression while maintaining their own food purchasing and cooking . The mountain trails, the white waters and rocks of Riviere Rouge ,and the small town feel of Hawkesbury apartments give the artists freedom of expression as well as that special Ottawa Valley , Gatineau Hills feel of colours , geographics and nature. The mountain is wilderness 25 minutes away from Canada’s parliament in Ottawa.
Chef Hoselton is also available for consultations of quantity food purchasing, production, menu planning and recipes in aid of all size, small to large commercial hospitality enterprises as well as personal individual chef requirements,. Gordon’s father was an internationally recognized sculptor, founding Hoselton Sculptures in 1970 with his brother Carl , after divesting his restaurants . His baby sister inherited the sculpture business and still runs that to this day. Gordon was independent , did not join the family business and remains independent with his first love of hospitality while enjoying very much his talent in sculptures, real estate investing and nature. His twin sons Jasper and Julien , Diamond Drillers working /exploring across the country joined him in 2015.
